Officially, the NHTSHA classification is “light truck” sometimes styled as “light-duty truck”. Is any truck or SUV up to GVWR of 10,000 pounds (class 1 , 2a, 2b). Above that are 3-8; “medium” and “heavy” duty. There is much marketing term confusion, e.g. GMC “HD” designated pickups are actually medium-duty per NHTSHA classivication.

The term “full size” is a completely nebulous marketing term and vaguely refers both size and excludes “crossover” (car-based designs) ; e.g. in the ford’s pickup line the F-series is “full size” and a Ranger is not.

Why we have so many large pickup trucks and SUVs

It’s worth reflecting back on how we got here w.r.t. automobiles in the US.

60-year-old bicyclist killed in west Phoenix crash

2026-07-02 4pm. Bethany Home Road near 35th Ave.

Bicyclist killed in collision at College/Alameda 4-way stop

Feb 14, 2023 5:38AM College and Alameda, Tempe AZ.

A 55 y.o. male bicyclist was killed at this all way (AWSC, All Way Stop Controlled) intersection.
