Holy sh!t, another one, I mean another jogger in Ahwatukee killed by a dangerous out-of-control driver… this is a small place. Freak “accident”? Two freak “accidents”?;

11/2/2017 ~ 4AM . Pedestrian /  jogger killed on sidewalk near Lakewood Parkway and Amberwood Drive this is a collector road in a residential neighborhood. Police suspect driver was impaired, she was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. Witnesses reported that the driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Shannon Scott, was driving on the sidewalk when Hilts was struck”

Rene Karlin was killed while jogging on the sidewalk off the Warner/Elliot loop in 2011

Jogger hit, killed by driver in Ahwatukee Foothills suspected of DUI

A jogger was struck and killed Thursday morning in Ahwtaukee Foothills, and police have arrested the driver, police say.

Witnesses said the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and hit a woman who was jogging at about 4:30 a.m. near Lakewood Parkway and Amberwood Drive.

The jogger was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries, police said.

Investigators determined the driver, who remained at the scene, was impaired. She was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and will be booked…

Jogger hit, killed in Ahwatukee neighborhood

PHOENIX – Officials are investigating a deadly pedestrian-involved crash in an Ahwatukee neighborhood.

Emergency crews were called to the scene near 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard after 4 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say 36-year-old Martha Hilts was jogging when she was struck by a vehicle and left in extremely critical condition. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say witnesses reported that the driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Shannon Scott, was driving on the sidewalk when Hilts was struck.

…little movement appears to have occurred in the case against a woman charged with the traffic death of a Lakewood woman that occurred just a week after that <a-word redacted>… Court records show that no trial date has yet been set for Shannon Marie Scott, 26, also of Lakewood, who faces a vehicular manslaughter charge in the Nov. 2 death of Martha Hilts, 36… Scott was arrested on a felony charge of reckless manslaughter after police say her blood-alcohol level was .08 – exactly at the minimum for a drunk-driving determination…. The arrest report said that besides the defendant showing “signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment,” police detected “a strong odor of marijuana” in her car.
