I had missed this one, but there are/were news reports I found while reconciling the 2014 asdm data, News reports and database say a cyclists was struck and killed while running a red light in Tucson.
Tucson Bicyclist Killed, Ran Red Light
Tucson Police are investigating a vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday August 20th, killing a 54-year old bicyclist. Officers were called to the intersection of Swan Road and 29th Street just after 1:00pm Tuesday regarding a vehicle collision involving a passenger car and a person on a bicycle. Upon arrival, they located an adult male bicyclist with life threatening injuries as a result of the collision. He was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The 36-year old female driver of the vehicle involved was not injured. Traffic Detectives determined that a 2000 Chevrolet Impala was traveling northbound on Swan Road approaching 29th Street. The light phased to green and the Impala entered the intersection. The bicyclist was traveling westbound on 29th Street and ran the red light at Swan Road. The bicyclist was struck by the Impala as he entered the intersection. The bicyclist was identified as 54-year old Mark Scherer

I found this while reconciling the 2014 data, the database entries are consistent with the news reports above; that is the cyclist ran a red light and was struck in the intersection.
There is an inconsistent coding however — the bicyclist’s unit action was listed as CROSSING STREET; this should have been coded as GOING STRAIGHT AHEAD.
Would a MV driver running a red light be coded as CROSSING STREET in the same circumstance?
