12/19/2014 ~ 11am. Elderly male driver of minivan apparently ran red light southbound Gilbert Road, killing bicyclist (not released) and injuring 2 others; as they passed through the intersection of Gilbert Road and 8th Ave (apparently 8th Ave is Pueblo Ave on the east side) in Mesa, AZ
The police hint there was no impairment or other condition implying there will be no serious charges. The driver will then likely be charged with misdemeanor (Death/serious injury by moving violation, 28-672)
Alleged red-light runner hits 3 bicyclists, 1 dead Posted on December 19, 2014 at 2:35 PM MESA, Ariz. — A man driving a minivan hit three bicyclists, killing one late Friday morning. The driver was heading south on Gilbert Road when he ran a red light and hit the bicyclists as they crossed at Pueblo Avenue, police said.
One of the cyclists, a man in his 50s or 60s, died from his injuries. The other two victims were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.
