Police work entails risk, and the risk from a traffic crash is a leading cause of death among officers; e.g. see more-police-killed-by-traffic-than-guns
And so it was Wed afternoon 9/16/2015 at 16th and Euclid when the driver of a black Toyota Tundra (full sized pickup truck) traveling at “a high rate of speed” slammed into a stopped Phoenix PD SUV containing two officers, who were seriously injured. The police were on the scene of an earlier unrelated crash. The news story doesn’t identify the driver. The force of the impact pushed the police vehicle forward where it collided with a school but but fortunately noone in the bus was badly injured.
