SixtyEightFeet

68 Foot (curb-to-curb) arterial (the white hash lines on the left and right represent gutters)

Typical suburban arterial multi-lane road without raised median.
68 Feet wide from curb-to-curb.
The 68 feet minus two ~ 1.5′ gutters leaves 65 feet of asphalt from gutter joint to gutter joint.
The white hash lines on either side represent gutters (I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted on streetmix?)
Top: 4′ / 12′ / 11′ / 11′ / 11′ / 12′ / 4′ = 65′ excl. of gutters
Bottom: 5′ / 11′ / 11′ / 11′ / 11′ / 11′ / 5′¬†= 65′ excl. gutters

Note there’s the same amount of combined space between the bike lane and the adjacent lane in either case.
To avoid shoehorning about 17 feet or more of combined space is necessary.
