  DSC01503-_01.JPG - Okay, 48th street after (going NB) turning left from the main roadway soon (just beyond the City of Phoenix Pima Canyon trailhead parking lot) becomes a privately maintained road with a gate. the gate has a pass-around for non-motorized traffic (bikes / hikers). I believe (but don't know the details) that this was part of a deal worked out between the Pointe HOA and City of Phoenix. That's Camelback Mountain in the background. there is or may be a bike lane on the private section but it hardly matters as this part functions as a residential street. IIRC the gate was placed more or less at the same time as the circle (48th street/Pointe Parkway, which is privately maintained) was constructed; which i'm thinking was something like 2002.
