Police: Driver killed in Ahwatukee crash swerved into traffic
Phoenix police believe the 56-year-old woman who was killed in a crash in Ahwatukee Foothills on Sunday afternoon caused the collision when she drove into oncoming traffic, according to a police spokesman.
Police said Brenda Foelster-Cabas was driving a Honda westbound on Chandler Boulevard near Desert Foothills Parkway at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday when she swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a Chrysler sedan, said Officer James Holmes, a Phoenix police spokesman.
Witnesses told police they had earlier seen the Honda swerving on the road and striking a median near 24th Street and Chandler Boulevard, Holmes said.
Foelster-Cabas was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead and the 29-year-old Chrysler driver was admitted to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Holmes said
