… A fugitive sought in 2006 bike fatality near Mesa has been arrested in Mexico, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said. Christopher Flores was captured in Puerto Vallarta after being on the run for more than a decade, the Sheriff’s Office said, adding he was arrested with assistance from authorities in Mexican and the U.S. Marshals Service.
…Flores, 31, was wanted in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in the early morning hours of Sept. 23, 2006, officials said. Flores was driving his Toyota eastbound on McKellips Road, approximately about two miles east of Dobson Road in a county island, when his vehicle veered from the road at a curve and struck bicyclist Jason Wedo from behind, the Sheriff’s Office said.
…Flores, who was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol, continued traveling east after the collision and drove approximately 415 feet, before the vehicle overturned, the Sheriff’s Office said.
