There have been a couple of particularly violent & deadly head-on crashes on state routes recently. In both cases, there was no immediate speculation or cause of why the drivers crossed over and drove the wrong way.

In an Aug 30, 2018 incident occurred on a Thursday afternoon when the 47 y.o. male driver of a Ford SUV crossed over and collided head-on with a Suburban. Both drivers were killed as well as a toddler who was a passenger in the suburban.

Then on Sept 19 around 10 pm the driver of a Buick crossed over and struck a Suburban head-on; the driver and passenger of the Buick were killed as well as the Driver and several passengers in the Suburban were killed. Most of the passengers in the Suburban were “undocumented immigrants” which while likely to make the story more newsy would not have affected the crash.

  1. As far as I am aware there is no mandatory autopsy in these types of incidents. Only if the family member request it. Which I assume comes with a cost. Therefore, there is no reliable data regarding how many crashes occur because of stroke, aneurysm, heart attack, diabetic coma, cell-phone use etc. I have come to the conclusion these crashes need to have a mandatory autopsy, and any accident needs to have the cell-phone data evaluated.
